The Yukon Community Pilot (YCP) is a federal–territorial permanent resident stream with a work permit component.
Government of Yukon started this three year pilot program in January 2020.
The goal of this pilot is to attract and retain immigrants in Yukon communities by testing innovative approaches to permanent immigration.

Statement from Yukon that it has determined that all factors required for the issuance of a work permit under paragraph R205(a) as per its agreement with Canada have been met, identifying the occupations and employers’ information
Yukon Work Permits for spouses or common-law partners
If principal applicant is employed in NOC skill type 0 or skill level A or B position, their spouse or common-law partner is eligible for location specific open work permit.
The spouse’s or common law partner’s work permit must alwaysbe restricted to the same community as the principal applicant’s job location.
Yukon Community Pilot Process – How does it work
YCP is all about a special 2-year location restricted open work permit. Provincial Nominees usually must wait for more than year to have their permanent residence application processed by IRCC. During this time, few PNP streams allow candidates to apply for a closed work permit thereby enabling them to work while awaiting a decision on their PR. In contrast, the YCP gives Yukon PNP candidates an ‘open’ work permit for 2 years to work for any employer within the same community.
Step by Step process for Yukon Community Pilot:
Apply for a valid full time job offer or Part-Time+ multiple jobs are permissible as long as it accumulates to 1,560 hours in a year. Get a signed letter of support from Government of Yukon Valid nomination for permanent residence from Yukon will enable you to get location restricted open work permit.
